Dancing Towards Joy and Confidence: A Creative Journey at Falconbrook Primary School
Thanks to the project supported by the bioMérieux Endowment Fund for Education, a group of 15 children from underprivileged backgrounds at Falconbrook Primary School have been taking part in weekly 1.5-hour creative dance sessions led by professional dancers. These workshops offer more than just movement — they create space for self-expression, connection, and joy.
To better understand the impact, a qualitative survey was conducted with the children, using age-appropriate questions and allowing responses through writing or drawing. The results were heartwarming:
- 100% of the children expressed positive emotions when dancing — describing feelings of calm, relaxation, and happiness.
- When asked about their favorite moments, most children highlighted the performances and the joy of dancing with friends.
This initiative shows how creativity and movement can empower children, build confidence, and foster a sense of belonging. It’s a beautiful reminder that art can be a powerful tool for inclusion and emotional well-being.
