Since 2021, the bioMérieux Endowment Fund for Education has supported a partnership with the Children of the Mékong (Les Enfants du Mékong).

This partnership aims to provide valuable assistance to children in some of the most vulnerable regions of Asia, specifically in the provinces of Lampang and Tak in Thailand, in the slums of Cebu and Manila in the Philippines, and in the Gia Lai province in Vietnam. These children come from disadvantaged backgrounds, including refugee, displaced, or ethnic minority populations.

The primary goal of the bioMérieux Endowment Fund for Education  for Education is to support childcare structures dedicated to early childhood. This support is implemented through several key initiatives to ensure that these children grow up in a secure, stimulating environment that promotes their development.

Protection: Ensuring Health and Safety for Children

The protection aspect of the project involves distributing food and hygiene products, as well as providing regular medical assistance to meet the children's health needs. In such precarious contexts, access to these basic services is crucial to prevent illness and ensure that children can grow up in the best conditions possible.

Love and Affection: Supporting Families

Parental support, through training programs for both mothers and fathers, is an integral part of the project. These training sessions help parents acquire skills to become social workers and improve their ability to support their children's education. This component focuses on parenting, which is a key factor in creating a loving and stable environment for the children.

Stimulation: Promoting Education from a Young Age

To stimulate the children's cognitive and social development, social workers and teachers guide the children through age-appropriate activities. Educational materials are provided, and learning environments are created to encourage curiosity and foster a love of learning.

Support for the Structures: Ensuring Optimal Care Conditions

The bioMérieux Endowment Fund for Education also contributes to covering administrative costs, transportation for taking children to daycare centers, and any other expenses related to the care facilities. The goal is to ensure both hygiene and safety in these structures, making sure they are sustainable and effective in the long term.

Tangible Impact: Better Support for Children

The projects supported by the bioMérieux Endowment Fund for Education currently benefit hundreds of children across Asia. In Thailand, 65 children aged 1 to 5 are receiving support. In the Philippines, the number rises to 800 children, while in Vietnam, 100 children from vulnerable communities are being helped.

By supporting local initiatives, training families, and providing a secure learning environment, this partnership is making a real difference in the lives of these children, offering them a better start in life and the chance for a brighter future.

Through this partnership, the bioMérieux Endowment Fund for Education demonstrates the importance of long-term commitment to education and the well-being of children, particularly those from the most disadvantaged backgrounds. Children of the Mékong is part of a true solidarity project that aims to break the cycle of poverty and give each child the keys to a better future.
