St. Louis Crisis Nursery

Since 2022, the bioMérieux Endowment Fund has supported the “Early Socio-Emotional Learning for Lifelong Success” project, led by the Saint Louis Crisis Nursery. This program aims to provide young children facing difficult life circumstances — such as homelessness, domestic violence, extreme poverty, substance abuse, or parental mental health challenges — with therapeutic support through play and art.

This partnership has provided essential assistance to families in severe distress, while offering children a safe and stable environment conducive to healing and growth.

Tangible and measurable results

Since its launch, the program has directly supported 981 children through therapeutic interventions led by a specialized art therapist, recruited thanks to the Endowment Fund’s grant.
In addition, 19 bioMérieux volunteers have actively contributed to the project’s success.

The outcomes highlight the program’s strong impact:

  • 97% of children have developed new coping and emotional regulation skills;
  • 90% of those with self-esteem difficulties have shown significant improvement throughout the sessions.

A comprehensive approach to socio-emotional development

In 2025, the bioMérieux Endowment Fund decided to renew its partnership with the association. The goal is to continue supporting children aged 0 to 8 cared for by Saint Louis Crisis Nursery through art, play, music, and sensory therapies.
These approaches help children build appropriate social skills, strengthen emotional regulation, and develop strategies to cope with stress and trauma.

By renewing this partnership, the bioMérieux Endowment Fund reaffirms its belief that emotional development in early childhood is a key foundation for every child’s well-being and future success.
