Stewart House: A Safe Haven for Children in Need

Located by the beach at Curl Curl (Sydney), Stewart House offers a life-changing 12-day residential program for public school children facing disadvantage, neglect, or trauma. The program provides comprehensive health care, education, and recreation to help children build self-esteem, resilience, and social skills in a nurturing environment.

Children attending Stewart House are among the most marginalized in the state—many affected by poverty, family violence, mental health issues, or social isolation. During their stay, they receive medical, dental, optical, and hearing screenings, mental health support from qualified professionals, and an integrated learning curriculum that fosters emotional and social development.

Since the beginning of the project, 141 children aged 6 to 8 have been supported through the project supported by the Endowment Fund.

According to the 2024 Student Exit Survey, the impact is clear: 94% of children learnt about different types of emotions, 80% recalled being kind to someone, and 82% felt better able to take care of themselves. These results reflect Stewart House’s lasting contribution to children’s emotional growth, confidence, and overall well-being.
