Le Petit Vélo Jaune - Belgium
Inspired by the image of a child learning to ride a bike for the first time, needing a steady, reassuring presence to gain confidence, Le Petit Vélo Jaune offers meaningful support to families navigating early parenthood.
The initiative focuses on parents who are socially isolated and facing hardship or insecurity, beginning as early as pregnancy. The approach is simple yet impactful: a volunteer, known as a “coéquipier·e,” is paired with a family to form a supportive duo. This volunteer visits the family once a week for a year, offering help with administrative tasks, sharing experiences, or simply being a kind and attentive presence, much like a good neighbor.
Over time, a warm and equal relationship develops. Together, the duo explores local resources, takes time to reflect, and considers ways to improve the family’s well-being. Each partnership becomes a unique story — a meeting of worlds where both sides learn from one another.
Le Petit Vélo Jaune is more than a support program; it’s a human connection that empowers families and strengthens communities.
